"The goodness of a person and of the society he or she lives in often comes down to very simple things and words found in the Scout Law. Every society depends on trust and loyalty, on courtesy and kindness, on bravery and reverence. These are the values of Scouting, and these are the values of Americans."

Pres. George W. Bush

Welcome To Our Website!!!

Boy Scout Troop 55 is located in Northville, New York - a small community in the southern Adirondack Park.  We are sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Northville (located on the corner of South Main Street and Washington Avenue), where we meet  on Thursday evenings at 7:00PM.  You can visit our schedule page to see what events we have coming up.

The Scouting program has three specific objectives, commonly referred to as the "Aims of Scouting." They are character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.  You can learn more about the scouting program at the Boy Scouts of America web site.

Bottles July 3 - 9: The Enders

Message from Todd this week:

Don't forget the 'blue marker' dedication ceremony and parade on July 4. Please, if you are in town, march in the parade. Have some pride for your troop and be a part of the best organization in Northville! The parade will only last a short time, and then you can go about your business and do what you want to. If you still refuse to march in the parade, don't let me see you on the side of the street observing!

Thursday, the 9th is a backpacking meeting. All those who wish to go backpacking on the 17th - 19th be sure to attend this thursday at 7 at the church. The itinerary will be gone over and the menu will be made.

This is the last week for the poll to be up. If you haven't voted yet, please do so.

Don't forget bottle pick ups now include the Park marine base.

If you are not signed up for fundraising this weekend, at least stop by one of the booths and say hi. Maybe buy a chicken or some fried dough and support your troop.

Anyone still needing to advance, just let me know. We will work with you all summer long. We have lots of informal meetings throughout the summer.

There are still a few of you who have not settled up with the May 15th Disney payments. These must be addressed. Please see Todd if you have payments due. He will be calling you in the next week.

The next regular payment is due on July 15th in the amount of $100 per person.

Remember, if you have bottles, you must see Mr. Palmateer for the special bags and boxes and that we now must follow the new guidelines for sorting the bottles!

In Memory of Raif Pomeroy

Raif Pomeroy

March 27, 1966 - July 22, 2007

Several members of Troop 55 were lucky enough to sail with Captain Raif Pomeroy last January during their trip to the Florida Seabase.  We were deeply saddened to learn of his recent death in a Scuba diving accident in the Bahamas.

Raif was a passionate diver and a wonderful singer.  He did a great job teaching our scouts about the wonders of the sea and was kind enough to share some of his music with them.

Thank you, God, for giving us the opportunity to sail with Raif and hear his fantastic voice in the Bahamas. He will be missed greatly.
